I love this picture. It's always satisfying when you're using a small point-and-shoot digital and able to get the decisive moment despite the camera's shutter lag. Years ago, I fell down the headwall at the far left. I foolishly tried to downhill ski it in skate skis, but it didn't work out that way. I fell almost immediately, shattered my skis, cracked and disarticulated my ribs, and ended up in a pile on the bottom of the slope--alone and miles from the parking lot. With a second-degree burn on one leg from where the slope burned right through my pants and skin. And my health insurance had lapsed just a few weeks earlier.
